Second Spanish League: Penafiel misses victory in Alverca with a penalty kick at 90+12

A theatrical coup in Alverca, where Peñafiel saw victory slip through his fingers from a penalty kick taken by Rebatejos at 90+12, leading to a 2-2 draw, in a match that took place in the eighth round of the Second Division. The team led by Helder Cristovao, who is still unbeaten, is still in first place in the standings, but has only two points more than Tondela and Benfica B.

The El Dorro team began the victory in its visit to Ribatejo, as Gabriel Barbosa opened the scoring in the 24th minute, but Alverca equalized shortly after in the 30th minute with a goal by Anthony Carter.

In the second half, in the 62nd minute, the visitors regained the lead, with a goal from Ze Leyte and Peñafiel seemed on their way to achieving their sixth victory this season, but Alverca still had an opinion.

After pumping several balls into the Peñafiel area, the referee awarded a penalty kick at 90+10 due to a cut in the arm of captain Joao Miguel. Anthony Carter, from the eleven mark, scored twice in the match and earned a point for the home team who still failed to win at home.

With this draw, Peñafiel, still unbeaten (5 wins, 3 draws), has only two points more than Tondela and Benfica B, but Seixal is still one game behind.
