If one day, as legend says, the rooster crowed at the judge's table to attest to the innocence of the pilgrim who was heading to Santiago de Compostela, now the rooster has certain days to crow again at the table of more than two dozen Barcelona restaurants.

There is another edition of the Galo Assado Gastronomic Weekend, an initiative that is part of the “7 Pleasures of Gastronomy” promotional program. Now from October 11 to 13, the municipality of Barcelos is promoting another event highly appreciated by diners, which symbolically remembers the roasted rooster that saved the pilgrim from the gallows and immortalized the legend of the rooster.

The Galo Assado weekend begins next Friday, October 11 and ends on the 13th with the participation of 24 restaurants in the municipality.

Each participating catering unit will prepare and serve the rooster in its own way: oven-roasted rooster, stuffed with chestnuts, Hajj style, among other ways of preparing this chicken.

The restaurants participating in this edition are: Alma dos Reis (Igreja Nova), Paguera (Barcelos), Belchior (Campo), Casa dos Arcos (Barcelinhos), Chuva (Barcelinhos), Cosinha Regional de Barcelos (Varzea), Dom Carlos (Selva). . ), Forna (Barcelos), Galeano (Barcelos), Moralha (Barcelos), Os Moros (Arcosillo), Piedra Forada (Piedra Forada), Nosal Restaurant (Barcelos), Perola (Barcelos), Rustic (Mariz), Solar das Fuentes ( Varzia), Sonho do Cavado (Manhinte), Taberna do Armendo (Remelhe), Taberna Lopez (Guilmond), Taberna “o Manhoso” (Tamil es Verissimo), Tasquinha “o Telheiro” (Viatodos), Tres Marias (Barcelos) and Vera Cruz (Barcelos).

Side activities

The Galo Assado gastronomic weekend includes as a parallel activity the proposal of a pedestrian route that will be implemented on October 12, between 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., on the “Trilho do Galo Assado à Moda de Barcelos”, a route that connects the parishes Rio Covo Santa Eulalia, Remela, Alvelos, Barcelinhos and Barcelos.
