On the afternoon of Wednesday, the 30th, nine science and technology projects were awarded at the 14th National Basic and Vocational Education Science and Technology Fair of the General Teaching Network. Businesses with innovative and sustainable solutions have been developed by students from the state’s public network.
There were two days of exhibition that brought together 100 works and more than 200 students from all regions of the state participated. Works have been awarded from the last years of elementary school, secondary school, and vocational education. In addition to giving away notebooks, mobile phones, and watches, the fair encouraged the exchange of experiences between schools and encouraged scholarly publishing. The works were evaluated by a team from the Secretary of State for Education (SED).

The Secretary of State for Education, Vitor Baltazar, congratulated the students for the projects presented and recalled the measures taken by the state government to bring technologies into schools. “A fair is a space for the promotion and dissemination of knowledge, just like schools, which are getting more and more technological. Maker spaces, for example, are laboratories that will contribute more and foster new ideas, helping our students to develop and be creative. We are happy to offer this exchange of experiences because we know that through science And knowing, it is possible to move on.”
The fair encourages scientific initiative
Before reaching the state fair, the works go through two more stages. The first took place in schools, and the best projects went to the regional stage. The 36 regional educational formats were responsible for the second stage, which was organized in the form of a regional exhibition and classification of works highlighted for the state event. Finally, the country phase brings together the main selected actions in the regional phases, which contributes to the improvement of the activities carried out.
The school is a place of knowledge production and these students have found in search and research a fruitful field for development. We were very happy to provide such opportunities in basic education,” said SED Director of Teaching, Letícia Vieira.
The fair has been held in the state since 2006, and in addition to promoting integration between schools, disseminating work, and encouraging scholarly initiative, selected projects may represent the state at other national fairs.
