SC Braga is already negotiating with Daniel Souza for the extradition of Artur Jorge

With the departure of Artur Jorge to Botafogo, FC Braga is already negotiating with a successor, and the chosen one is Daniel Sousa, the current coach of Arauca. As far as Artur Jorge is concerned, his immediate departure comes as a result of an agreement to coach Botafogo from Brazil. The 52-year-old coach will be bid farewell in the match against Portimonense, at the end of the 27th round of the league, on Monday.

Artur Jorge travels to Rio de Janeiro the next day, with a two-season contract awaiting him. Braga Club is allocating about three million euros for the release of the coach, who has a release clause of ten million euros.

Botafogo and Artur Jorge are happy with the result, and the coach is waiting impatiently in Brazil, where he will soon face the Copa Libertadores. Interim coach Fabio Matias will still lead the team when they welcome Junior Barranquilla, from Colombia, on March 3, but the Portuguese will already be on the bench when they visit Liga de Quito, from Ecuador, on March 11.

At the moment, Artur Jorge is focusing on the visit to Portimonense, with the aim of concluding the tournament with a victory. SC Braga is also remaining silent regarding the coach's departure, with the aim of keeping the team as focused on Monday's match as possible.

Artur Jorge, former Minho captain, will play his 104th match as coach. After a first spell, in 2020, he returned to the main team two years later, and this year he won the League Cup.

Spartak Moscow had already made an offer to the former central defender, but he ended up rejecting the Russian team's offer. However, at that time, Braga club president, Antonio Salvador, had already considered choosing Daniel Souza as the successor. In recognition of his work with Gil Vicente, last season, and above all for the recovery he achieved at Arauca, in the current season – after several years as assistant to Andre Villas-Boas – the 39-year-old coach can now return to the team.
