“This structure, which will be installed in a building built from scratch with completion scheduled for the second half of 2023, will improve the logistical conditions for conducting clinical trials, making CHUSJ more competitive in Europe for attracting new clinical trials in areas of high differentiation,” can read it.

CHUSJ Clinical Director Maria Joao Baptista explains that the new center will make it possible to replicate the existing “95 active clinical trials” with “excellent health gains for patients, but also for the institution and for the country”.

According to the SNS portal, clinical trials are a way to “transform the result of the most advanced biomedical laboratory research into a clinical reality, which allows testing new methods for the treatment or prevention of diseases, both recurrent and rare.”

The future CHUSJ Science and Innovation Center, with a budget of more than 200 thousand euros, will be built with the support of patronage.
