Russia, Ukraine | Here the Russians fear a counterattack: – It is clear to everyone

On May 10, Russia launched a major offensive in the Kharkiv region, in far northeastern Ukraine:

In the first days, Russian forces advanced rapidly towards Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine. Many Western experts feared for a while that Russia could reach the million-city artillery range.

Now Russian forces have completely stopped, and one of Russia's biggest military bloggers, WarGonzo, fears a possible Ukrainian counterattack in the region. This happens after Russia suffers huge losses.

– Do Ukrainian forces have the ability to turn the situation on the Kharkiv Front upside down? Of course they did, WarGonzo, or Semyon Pegov as he's actually called, starts a new post.

– The enemy has woken up

“And this is not something I think, it's about female athletes on the front lines,” he adds.

Pegov, who has more than a million followers on the Russian social media site Telegram, says the idea came to his mind when he visited the war-torn border region a few days ago.

– Our forces took control of a number of villages in one sweep operation. They took advantage of the element of surprise while the enemy was sleeping. Now the enemy has awakened, Pigov writes, and continues:

– In the first few days our losses were minimal, but in the last few days the enemy responded. Snarling costs money, and we are now suffering huge losses, writes the Russian military blogger.

Pegov lists some of what Russia succeeded in, namely the partial occupation of the village of Liptsy and the city of Vovchansk.

But the downside is that it becomes harder and harder to progress with each passing day, Pigov writes. This is explained, among other things, by “massive artillery shelling” from the Ukrainian side.

– I must honestly admit that the enemy quickly managed to refuel on the Kharkiv Front. Not only with drones, but also with reserve units and artillery that arrived quickly. If the balance of power was even at the beginning of the offensive, it is now clear to everyone on the front that the enemy has become more numerous, writes the Russian propagandist.

He concludes:

– There is every reason to believe that the size of the enemy force in the Kharkiv region may now be large enough to launch a counterattack against us and take the initiative. It is not certain that the enemy will decide to do this, but the danger is there. We have to prepare for such a scenario, Pigov warns.

By the way, drone videos have now begun to appear from Vovchansk from the Ukrainian side, which supposedly show dead civilians on the streets:

NB! Powerful images in video:

More than 14,000 people were displaced in the Kharkiv region, according to the World Health Organization.

WHO representative Jarno Habicht said on Tuesday that this should have happened within a few days.

He adds that 189,000 Ukrainians remain less than 25 kilometers from the border with Russia.

Zelensky: Russia is suffering huge losses

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said on several occasions in recent days that Russia is losing soldiers and equipment on a massive scale. Zelensky claimed over the weekend that his forces were making progress in the fight to repel the Russian attack. He said in a video speech on Saturday that Russia is paying a heavy price, and said on Tuesday evening:

– In the Kharkiv region, our forces destroy the occupiers and the results are noticeable.
