Russia: Drone attack on Moscow

– Around 04:00 pm today, a drone attack on two commercial buildings was recorded. Mayor Serge Sobyanin wrote on Telegram that there were no serious injuries or loss of life.

The Russian Defense Ministry told the state-run Russian news agency that it had intercepted two drones that were sent from Ukraine. They claim to have used electronic warfare which caused the drones to go down.

The ministry called it an “attempted terrorist act” by Ukraine.

Ukraine has not yet commented on the Russian allegations.

There were initial reports that the remains of a drone were found by Russian emergency services in central Moscow on Monday night.

The message comes after several Telegram channels reported that residents of several districts in the southwest and south of Moscow reported the sound of explosions, Reuters wrote.

An eyewitness who spoke to Reuters heard two explosions in the Russian capital on Monday night.

NTB writes that the street where the remains of the drone were found is about two kilometers from the building of the Russian Defense Ministry.

Earlier this month, five Ukrainian drones were shot down on the outskirts of Moscow, according to Russia. No one was injured in the attacks.

The Russian Ministry of Defense then referred to the events as “an attempt by the regime in Kiev to commit a terrorist act with five drones”.
