This could be the end of the Amorim era at Sporting. The 39-year-old is about to become the new manager of Manchester United.

Later, Amorim said in a press conference that at the moment there is only one statement from Sporting regarding the British interest in signing him, but he reiterated that “the decision will be made by you.”

There was a statement from the club which is the only thing available at the moment. There is interest from Manchester United. But it happens to be my choice. Until everything is decided, we will not make noise. I don't have anything good to say. I'll do whatever you want to do, just like I always have“, male.

“I will not talk about my contract, it is something between me and Sporting. All the clauses in the contract, the employer is the one who sets them and the employee is the one who sets them as well. What I can say is that statement says all the information you need.”He added.

“I explained to the players what happened.”

Sporting's statement came on the day the team played in Alvalade in the League Cup, and Ruben Amorim revealed that he explained to the players what was happening in order to “get the elephant out of the room.”

He pointed out: “There was no talk about anything. That was before the dead balls took the elephant out of the room. Before the statement was issued, I explained to the players everything that was happening, and there was nothing more to say.” .

“If I leave, the players will be disappointed in me. This is part of life. PI understand you're disappointed, but I have to live with that. The important thing is to get to the end and explain everything. This I will do“, he concluded.

Amorim has two national championship titles, both with Sporting (2020/21 and 2023/24), three League Cups (2019/20, with Sporting de Braga, 2020/21 and 2021/22 with the “Lions”) and one Supertassa Candido. Oliveira (2021/22), also led by the “Greens and Whites”.
