(Review) Sony OLED A80K: The mid-range looks top notch!

Do you still remember the old days when Sony controlled the living rooms of the vast majority of Portuguese people? Today, things are not quite that way anymore. However, this does not mean that the Japanese giant has lost the quality of its construction, its image, or even its design.

Sony TVs are still great! Especially when we start looking at models equipped with OLED panels. By the way, it is the level of quality that begins to appear in models far from the higher ranges. We also now had the opportunity to prove it with Sony A80K OLED.

Sony’s new wallet-friendly alternative arrives on the shelves packed with features, amazing image quality… and of course a more attractive price than usual.

(Review) Sony OLED A80K: A mid-range TV that looks top notch!

So the Sony A80K brings more than what high-end TVs bring to the table. As with the more equipped A95K QD-OLED, this is at a much cheaper price.

TV depends in addition to all this on the operating system Google TVis able to offer a range of features and connectivity that many of the leading TVs on the market cannot do, as in the case of the more specific LG OLED TVs (WebOSSamsung QLED and QD-OLED TVstizen).

However, in the realm of image quality, the A80K combines many of the specifications of its product range, such as the XR OLED Contrast Pro, XR Triluminous Pro, and even the Cognitive XR processor, to deliver deeper blacks and richer colours. The brightness of this TV doesn’t match the higher ranges, especially when we’re featuring the new QD-OLED models in the discussion, but the truth is, it’s not that far off.

With the Sony A80K performing extremely well in dark environments, it does its job well in rooms with natural light.

In case you didn’t know, an OLED TV shouldn’t be placed in a place with a lot of ambient light. However, the Sony A80K was able to impress. It is a television that meets all the requirements that separate the wheat from the chaff.

In the design realm, Sony remains largely the same, even in a TV that wasn’t thought of as high-end. The A80K can be wall-mounted, but it also comes with brackets included, in case you want to put it on the table. Its “position” is always simple, but it manages to earn respect, since it has very thin bezels around the entire screen, even at the base, where we have all the basic technologies.

In fact, even considering the ultra-thickness, the A80K continues to have Sony Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology, which vibrates the screen to create sound. Subwoofer powered system below. Included in the package, we also have Dolby Atmos with 3D Surround Upscaling, which, in other words, creates an Atmos atmosphere, even without a dedicated sound system designed for this effect.

For gamers, we also have a lot of good stuff, especially if you want to get into the new generation of consoles, or want to run your own high-end PC. At the end of the day, we have two HDMI 2.1 inputs that support 4K @ 120Hz, VRR, and ALLM. On top of all of this, we also have Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which does some magic on the picture quality of PS5 games.
