Greek midfielder Sotiris Alexandroupoulos is seen as a boost to Sporting.
The 20-year-old Greek international midfielder arrives at Alvalade from Panathinaikos and signs until 2027 with a penalty clause of €60 million.
The player who will wear the number 6 shirt has already spoken as a player for Lions and admitted he was delighted with the move he took.
“Sporting is a great club, I realized that from the first minute I arrived here. I spoke with many players in Greece and some former colleagues who played here and they all said very good things about the club. I am very happy to be here,” he said, quoting the club’s website on Internet.
The midfielder also admitted that he spoke with former athlete Sporar, who gave him very good signals from the club.
“When I heard about Sporting CP’s interest, Šporar told me to come in. He told me about the club, the people and the way they work. He told me it would be a big step for me and it helped me because he is a great player and a friend too.”
The Hellenic athlete also responded through personal social networks. “Very happy and excited about this new challenge. Signing for a big club like Sporting is a huge responsibility and I will do everything in my power to repay the trust they have given me. It’s time to work and fight for victories,” he wrote on Instagram.
