Refuses to comment on the possibility of canceling this year's May 17th celebration

“They gave me a quote that was wrong. In fact, what I said was that the spring would be less safe due to an Omicron infection, and I might still take it,” Goldfog told TV 2 Nyhetskanalen on Monday afternoon.

On Monday morning, P4 reported that the Director of Health said the Norwegians risked another celebration on May 17 without trains for children and large companies due to the high uncertainty about the omicron variant.

Goldfog himself dismisses this on TV 2.

– It’s great to have the opportunity to correct this on TV 2. We went through this with the P4 today, and P4 apologizes for that, says Guldvog.

In a text message to TV 2 on Monday evening, news editor Marte Svarva at P4 wrote that he regrets the error.

– In the case of the Internet, unfortunately, the meaning of the status was given as a direct quote from the Director of Health. I wrote that this wasn’t accurate in the case of the internet, something P4 News regretted.

Monday night they fixed it original status They wrote: “Health Director Bjorn Goldvog was in this case a pre-quote on May 17 ‘We could go another year without trains for children and big companies on May 17’. It was not a direct quote and was removed.”

The quote has been answered

Many responded to the quotes, which were published at the same time as Tyra Grove Krause, director of the Danish Institute of Public Health SSI, and said their predictions were that Danes could live as usual within two months.

– I think so. It will continue for the next two months, Krause told Denmark, after which I hope the infection will go down and we can get back to our normal lives. TV2.

Author Aslak Nore blasted Guldvog’s P4 quotes on Twitter on Monday morning and accused the health director of spreading meaningless predictions. The Twitter message has since been deleted.

Omikron dominant

Line Vold, director of the National Institute of Public Health, told TV 2 that the Omicron infection that now dominates in Norway is likely to cause a new wave of infections in January.

– We believe this based on developments in other countries that have the same infections as us, and experiences from there when Omicron takes charge. Fuld said earlier on Monday that we have measures that we hope will slow development, but all indications are that we will see an increase in infections.

Comments about the uncertainty in the omicron variant were the background to the misunderstanding between P4 and Guldvog, according to the same health director.
