“Scrups” producer Eric Weinberg, 62, pleaded his innocence in court on Tuesday, but was denied bail.
American Weinberg fraught 18 cases of rape, sexual assault and violence. On Tuesday, he appeared in Los Angeles Supreme Court to assert his innocence.
The TV producer was previously released on bail of over NOK 50 million, but that bail has now been withdrawn, he writes. The Hollywood Reporter.
After the hearing, Weinberg was taken handcuffed and taken into custody.
Judge Virginia Wilson agreed with Attorney General Marilyn Martinez that Weinberg could be a danger to society.
Weinberg’s defense attorney, Philip Cohen, argued against the detention while noting that the accused may be subject to restrictions related to the use of social media and communication with women he did not know. He offered house arrest as an alternative – without being heard.
Judge Wilson noted that the crimes attributed to Weinberg must have occurred within the “secure confines of his home.”
Weinberg was arrested at his Los Angeles home on July 15.
He is accused of using his Hollywood stature to lure women to take pictures. He is said to have contacted women in grocery stores, coffee shops, and other public places.
He will then invite them to his house and for allegedly assaulting them.
The assaults were said to have occurred in the Los Angeles area from 2014 to 2019, but investigators believe there may be more victims.
The new court date is November 15.
Weinberg was the executive producer of 100 episodes of the sitcom “Scrubs”. He also wrote scripts for several episodes. He also helped produce the movie “Californication”.
The 62-year-old was also a producer and had scripts for popular films like “Anger Management” and “Men at Work.”
