PS5’s chief architect already knows which solid state drive (SSD) to use on his console

The update came with hidden updates for the new generation! Leaking

As you know, the PlayStation 5 brings a lot of good to the gaming world, including a super-fast storage system that can outperform the vast majority of the fastest and most expensive PCIe 4.0 SSDs in the PC world. A big problem … It is very fast, but very limited in its storage capacity.

This is exactly why the PlayStation 5 has a slot to install a second m.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD drive. There is a feature that remains disabled for various reasons, but in the next big update for Sony’s next generation console, it should be made available to all gamers.

In other words, it’s time to increase your console storage space! But do you know which SSD to choose? Mark Cerny, one of the principals responsible for the PS5 project, knows what model will be put on the console.

PS5 SSD.

So Mark Cerny has already stated that he plans to use an SSD WD_Black SN850 on your console. An excellent option that will probably inspire many gamers to use the PS5 in their living room.

But let’s get to the interesting thing, in terms of the minimum technical specifications, it is necessary to install an SSD NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 with a read speed of more than 5 GB / s, and preferably higher. Also, it is advisable to install an SSD with a heatsink for heat dissipation. However, the maximum accepted capacity is 4TB.

All that said, the WD_Black SN850 meets all the requirements, providing a heatsink, and can reach a read speed of 7 GB / s. However, it is also quite expensive, costing almost 500 euros for the 2TB version. In other words… the exact same price as the PlayStation 5 digital edition. Are you ready to spend this money?

Besides, what do you think of all this? Are you going to put an SSD in your PS5? Did you already choose it?
