PS5 at 37 million units sold before April is Sony’s expectations

Sony Interactive Entertainment has just revealed a very ambitious target for PlayStation 5 sales projections for the current fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2023.

Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at SIE, spoke Famitsu He was asked about Sony’s ability to improve PS5 inventory and also about the state of the console’s manufacturing.

Nishino talked about the improvements they’ve been making in recent months to boost PS5 inventory worldwide, thinking of God of War: Ragnarok and Christmas, but was also asked about 2023.

Famitsu Nishino reminded that the PS4 Pro arrived 3 years after the launch of the PS4 and bearing in mind that the PS5 will complete 3 years of life in November 2023, the Japanese site wondered if something was prepared for next year.

In his response, Nishino said that “By the end of fiscal year 2022, total sales will exceed 37 million units, and we believe that this will also be a very important moment for the console.”

Nishino didn’t share details, but he did talk about a big year and his projections are that Sony will sell 12 million PS5 consoles within six months and hit the target of selling 18 million PS5 units between April 2022 and March 2023.

The last figure is 25 million PS5 consoles sold by September 30, 2022.
