Presidential elections next year It must be said that it is historic in many ways. At least as a tribute to geriatrics. The next president may be stripped of office by the Republican Party, but he will still be able to run the world’s largest economy and the world’s most powerful country from the backseat.
It’s truly a mystery how the United States ended up with two old men in their 80s as potential 2024 presidential candidates. In a democracy with a population of over 330 million and some of the best universities in the world, you would think there would be younger candidates for the job. Which is often referred to as “the strongest in the world”.

There is no imitation either For elderly heads of state in the United States of America, unlike a number of other countries throughout history. The United States of America has proudly referred to itself as a “young nation,” and this is largely reflected in the man in the White House. Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were 46 and 47 years old respectively when they became president. John F. Kennedy was 43 years old, and his rival Richard Nixon was only four years older. There are few presidents over the age of 60 throughout US history. Ronald Reagan was the first to be criticized for being too old. He was 69 years old. If biographies about him are to be believed, he clearly had Alzheimer’s disease in his second period, a disease that reappeared a few years later.
On the campaign trail next year, former presidents will look like Giebling. Nikki Haley is among Trump’s youngest rivals at 51 years old. She is one of many who have suggested that both presidential candidates and elected representatives to Congress over the age of 75 take a cognitive test.

The question is about age It’s more than just a number, as they say on Facebook when the birthday kid starts getting older. Obviously a lot of people are clinging to exceptions here. There are examples of thinkers and leaders who are physically and at least mentally fit until they reach their 90s. As Olaf Thun (100) said when he resigned as chairman of the board earlier this year – quoting philosopher Arne Ness: “After 95, age starts to show.” Mick Jagger is the same age as Biden and still rocks.
It’s still one thing to run a large company, usually your own, where you’re protected and can step aside without quitting. Or live by writing and creativity in peace and quiet. But serving as President of the United States is perhaps one of the toughest and most demanding top jobs in the world, even physically. Look at Biden, who went on an arduous trip to Ukraine this spring, or to Israel immediately after the Hamas attack, then returned with jet lag and addressed the nation a few hours later, a speech that was described as a “tirade.” The most important speech in the Middle East ever by an American president. No wonder he seemed a bit out of breath, but the content wasn’t something even Fox News could criticize. And in between wars that the rest of the world cares about, he will rule the United States, after all, with an unruly Congress and an unpredictable opponent. While he was in Israel, there were several smaller and larger crises at home that he also had to deal with.
There is little to point out Biden is weak because of his age, as his opponents want him to be. The problem is that his voters are equally skeptical about his age, while Republican voters are more concerned that their candidate will end up in prison. It has always been a joke that the Vice President is only a heartbeat away from becoming President. Now this is no joke. The idea of President Kamala Harris is scary enough for many, while Trump’s potential nominees are pure terror.
Ordinary people should always be careful about comparing themselves to such an upper class. But age does not exclude anyone. It’s possible to get wiser with age, although I’m not always sure when I read the comments section. It is possible that some people live longer than the rest of us because they ate yogurt and have good genes. Both candidates are completely abstaining. It is said to be beneficial for health.
But age also comes to sobriety. Even the President of the United States does not run away. Not even Donald Trump, who made it a feature of his public meetings to bully Joe Biden because of his floundering and stumbling. For a long time, Trump seemed far more important than Biden, but now he is also distinctly older. In recent months, he has been wrong about the state he lives in, saying that Viktor Orban is the president of Turkey, that Hungary is a neighbor of Russia, that Israel is stupid and Hezbollah is smart. He has talked several times about beating Obama, whom he has never competed against. Yes, he seems obsessed with Obama again, as if he has entered the childhood stage of his political life. Trump has always been ignorant and eccentric, but now he is making mistakes he doesn’t want to make. While in the previous round he could talk incoherently for two hours, he became more dependent on the teleprompter. Whenever he deviates from it, he confuses places, people, and times. There is a very noticeable difference between Trump in 2016 and today’s version.
This is good news for Biden. There are already political ads showing Donald Trump’s hype. It hits him harder than the numerous lawsuits filed against him. Political commentators believe Trump’s biggest advantage over independent voters, the claim about Biden’s dementia, has been nearly offset this fall.
And so it ended for the young nation. The president and his rivals are arguing over who is the least heavyweight by age.
