Portugal Rally: Sordo penalized for not wearing the correct hat, Neuville fined €10,000 – Rallyes

The Belgian failed to deliver the time card and, in WRC2, Bruno Bolaccia was penalized for using an extra tire

Rally Portugal ended in the early afternoon, but during the night the stewards issued disciplinary decisions to three participants and for very different reasons, from not having a cover or time card to using an extra tyre. Dani Sordo, the Hyundai driver who finished second overall, was fined €1,000 for not using the WRC promoter’s cap on the final podium access ramp at Matosinhos, after he was argued to have used his personal cap. For the same reason, the Hyundai team has been fined €15,000, but with a suspended penalty, as long as Sordo does not commit the same offense stipulated in the regulations, until the end of the 2023 season.

The Belgians and Sordo also have 48 hours from the moment of notification to make payment, otherwise they will be suspended (until the fine is paid) if they do not meet the deadline.

In WRC2, Bruno Bolasia, from Bolivia, was penalized by two minutes for using a total of 27 frames during competition, when the limit in said category is 26 frames.
