Dragons is the first European club to join the 3D online world. Partnership with Upland
On Wednesday, FC Porto formally partnered with Upland, a platform that allows you, in game form, to trade titles mirrored in the real world in the metaverse. In a very simple way, Upland is similar to the popular board game Monopoly, but in the metaverse, the concept of an online 3D universe that combines several virtual environments and allows users to work, meet, play and socialize in these environments. The metaverse allows for a kind of “second life” online, but it’s set for the real world, i.e. a 3D virtual version of the world we all live in.
Even due to this parallel with the real world, metaverses still do not fully exist, little by little they are created. However, some platforms, such as Upland, offer people the closest possible experience to the metaverse. The first phase of the implementation of FC Porto will take place in Upland this season.
In order to create the Porto Club, the city of Porto will be established in the Metaverse region, as well as Estádio do Dragão or Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport. Users will be able to acquire in-game properties that are already in the real world, using Blockchain technology to ensure reliability and transparency. This system is already well known by those who are inside the cryptocurrency world.
These, moreover, are the preferred form of negotiation in the metaverse. Upland NFTs that can be acquired or conquered through game mechanics will be generated and which will be the “currency” that will be used in the Upland, to trade property.
“We are very excited to welcome FC Porto, the first European football team to enter the Upland region.” This is how Dirk Lueth, co-founder and CEO of Upland, welcomed the club into the metaverse. “Football is a way of life. People eat, sleep and breathe thinking about football. For Porto fans, taking that passion into turns represents an unparalleled opportunity to deepen their relationship with the club.”
“Saying it is another short step. This is not just a step. Being the first European football team to establish itself in the metaverse, through Upland, with our city, stadium, players and fans takes our brand to a very high level in the field. We are always looking for new opportunities and never The metaverse can pass us by. The proof that it doesn’t work is this bet we’re betting,” stressed Tiago Gouvia, Dragons Marketing Director.
“The international growth of FC Porto is happening on many levels. Thinking of the metaverse as the future started wrong. It is the present. Here it is knocking on our door and we want to be on the right side, as always. Being the first to be the first,” said Pedro Albuquerque, director of FC Porto International. It’s exciting, and I think it will provide our fans with unique opportunities to interact, creating, literally, a new world full of sportsmanship.”
