Porto Business School reveals women dominate business communications, announces new postgraduate edition – Executive Summary

Porto Business School has announced the launch of the new edition of its postgraduate course in Communication Management, designed to respond to future challenges and trends in the fields of communication, marketing and sales.

The program seeks to provide professionals with the skills necessary to lead and innovate in the field of business communications.

Recent data highlights a significant trend in the participant profile, with the latest edition of the postgraduate course showing a marked dominance of women, with a total of 71% of registrants. This statistic is consistent with a previous study by Abicom, which revealed that women make up around 68% of the workforce in communications and public relations companies in Portugal.

“We are proud to see so many women in business communication. This trend not only reflects the reality of recent years in the labor market, but also highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in the fields of communication and brand management,” says Amelia Brandão, co-director of the Postgraduate Course in Communication Management at the University of Porto Business School.

He also adds that the postgraduate course “has been redesigned to provide professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to meet contemporary and future challenges, and to provide practical and comprehensive training that qualifies them to lead and communicate effectively and innovatively.”

The postgraduate course is designed to provide comprehensive and practical training, equipping participants with knowledge in various dimensions of communication, including institutional, commercial, internal, relational and digital. The programme aims to develop an integrated vision of communication and prepare students to face real-world challenges through practical work on topics such as GDPR, crisis management, event coordination and more.
