The weekly bulletin on dengue, issued by the Porto Alegre Health Department, has confirmed 964 authentic cases of the disease in the city this year.
In all, 1,518 suspected cases of dengue fever among residents of the capital were notified to the Epidemiological Surveillance Department, of which 987 (65.2%) were confirmed. Among these cases, 964 were contracted in the municipality and 23 were imported, that is, people outside Porto Alegre were infected, according to the bulletin issued on Tuesday (12).
Cases of the disease were recorded in all areas of the city, with prevalence in the eastern and central southern health districts, with 631 and 102 original cases, respectively.
Regarding chikungunya, in 2022, four suspected cases were reported among residents of Porto Alegre, one confirmed, one neglected and one awaiting the result of a laboratory examination. There have been two reports of suspected Zika, one of which has been excluded and the other under investigation.
Areas of the city with confirmed cases have been the focus of coordinated actions by the Environmental Monitoring Unit with guidance for residents and the eradication of Aedes aegypti mosquito breeding sites.
