Porta 65 maximum rents may double in some cities – Economy

Calculations made by the publication for each of the 308 Portuguese municipalities show that in the most expensive cities to rent a house, the modernization of the borders will be more expressive.

In Porto, from €468, the maximum rent allowed by Porta 65 for T1 will increase to €775, an increase of 65%. In T3, the update is 106%, from 581 euros to a maximum of 1,200 euros.

In Lisbon, the highlight is the large houses. The rent of the T5 will be allowed up to a maximum of €1,700, an increase of more than 95% compared to the current value of €869. Already the maximum rent for T3 is up to 82%, from €756 to €1375, while in T1 it will be 55%, from €581 to €900.

In many municipalities in the Algarve, which is one of the most expensive areas in the country to rent a home, updates will also be important. This is the case in Albufeira, Castro Marim, Lagos, Lule and Tavira, where the maximum expected rent for T3 will increase by almost 90%, from €490 to €925.

With the entry into force of the 2022 state budget, from the second half of this year, two criteria for applying for Porta 65 will also change. Candidates for Porta 65 are now eligible to receive this support even if they do not have a lease contract yet. At the same time, the limits stipulated in the affordable rent program are considered.
