Pixel 9 will record, transcribe, and summarize your calls

News related to the Pixel 9 smartphone series continues to appear, and this time, it seems that Google wants to wink at users looking for “smart” tools to organize long calls.

Some of these tools are already part of the software built into the Pixel 8, such as the “AI Summarize” function, which uses Gemini Nano AI resources to transcribe and summarize recorded audio.

Now Google's idea would be to take it to a new level of functionality, and also respond to Apple's promises regarding the next generation of iPhone.

New Contact Notes feature

the site Robot Police Software engineer and leaker Dylan Russell, who in his country X account Let it be known that Google will integrate the new “Call Notes” function into Pixel 9 smartphones to record calls and transcribe the recorded audio.

The “Call Notes” function should be integrated into the phone through the Google app, as the Gemini Nano will be used to make all recordings, transcriptions and summaries directly on the smartphone, for privacy reasons.

Given the other AI-based features that Google already makes available on its Pixel smartphones, the ability to record calls and transcribe them into text is a capability that may please many users, especially in cases of long, very important, or even urgent calls.

Android Police states that Google continues to not confirm Call Notes and in which contexts and applications this functionality could be provided.

However, the site reminds us that call recording and transcription will be a feature built into iOS 18, which could speed up Google's process of providing a similar tool.
