Pedro Chagas Freitas has left a new outburst about his son who is still hospitalized at the Coimbra Children's Hospital.
Six-year-old Benjamin has had a liver transplant and is a real hero, with his father using social media to update his followers on the boy's health.
The writer narrates a dialogue he had with the puppy:
“-Benjamin, would you like to be somewhere else?
– No, I'd rather be here in the hospital.
-Why?
“Because that's where my mom and dad are,” the writer reveals.
“Easy right? Love is not being willing to die for someone, it is being willing to live for someone. I live, we live, for you. And we would die for you too, of course. Now. Without wasting a second thought. But the best and greatest love is to live for someone. We love each other, we love each other very much, we love what we are, but we dedicate our lives to you, to welcome you, to play with you, to talk to you, to listen to you, to love you night and day, every day. Our lives,” writes Pedro Chagas Freitas.
“There are still setbacks here, things that didn’t go perfectly, problems that doctors and machines have to correct. You still have some way to go. We were locked in a room, in the hospital, for weeks, sleeping badly, tired, missing home, missing everything, and we didn’t want to be anywhere else. It’s not sacrifice, it’s not effort, it’s not heroism. It’s love. “There are many who are in heaven at this time, but no one is in heaven more than me,” he recalls.
Finally, the writer added a note of thanks: “There have been so many gifts, both virtual and real (sent here to the hospital), that Benjamin has received. I won’t be able to thank each one of you specifically, but on behalf of our son I thank you all deeply. Each one is crucial, each one steals smiles and brings light to our days. Thank you.”
