Otovo Enters Portuguese EV Charger Market – Executive Summary

Published on

Otovo, the leading European market for solar panel and battery installations for the residential market, announced on Thursday the integration of electric vehicle chargers (CVE) into its offer. With this type of equipment also available in Portugal, the company intends to guarantee families greater independence in relation to the electricity grid.

Otovo has become the first marketplace to offer its customers the possibility of installing CVE systems. The brand wants families to be able to produce their own solar energy, which they can then use to charge their electric car in the most convenient way, from home, and at no additional cost.

“One of Otovo’s missions is to encourage and promote self-consumption. In this sense, expanding our product range to include this type of equipment seems natural to us, especially because it makes our offer more complete. Otovo increasingly positions itself as a platform that helps families increase their home energy efficiency, always with the aim of maximizing savings at the end of the month,” explains Manuel Pena, General Manager of Otovo in Portugal.

The introduction of CVE into Otovo's product range also appears as a brand strategy to allow installers to increase their revenue by selling a complementary item.

“As a marketplace, we always take into account not only customers and families, but also the professionals with whom we partner. For this reason, this decision seems inevitable and will only bring benefits to all involved. We are fulfilling the mission of promoting and accelerating the energy transition, ensuring greater comfort and savings for families and additional income for installers,” says Manuel Pina.
