Online cheating?  Follow these PSP tips and avoid them

YuOne of the current priorities of the Public Security Police (PSP) is to raise awareness of scams and keep people safe online.

Therefore, the security forces have put together some easy-to-follow tips to stay safe.

Be careful and aware of the following:

  • people offering you money, gold, or other valuables;
  • people who want to take polls;
  • People who provide you services and give you a prize over the phone or on public roads.

Online scams increased by 43% between January 1 and April 25 of this year, compared to the same period last year, according to a study by Portal da Queixa, which was released Thursday.

The average value of fraud operations in this period has also increased to 515 euros, and losses are already estimated at two million euros, according to the “Digital Knowledge Consumers 2023” study.

The work led to the conclusion that 51% of consumers claim to have been the target of attempted fraud on the Internet, 62% consider digital literacy in Portugal to be “low” or “very low” and 59% believe that the government has taken no action to improve this the situation.
