Norwegian tourists warn: - Quarantine must be prepared

I left popular holiday destinations like Spain, the Netherlands and Crete on Friday Red to dark red on the FHI infection map.

They should go to quarantine hotels now

This means that anyone who has not been fully vaccinated or has contracted coronavirus in the past six months must go to quarantine hotels if they come from these countries as of Monday.

The same requirements already apply to Cyprus and the United Kingdom.

In an interview on TV 2 Nyhetskanalen on Friday, the assistant director of health, Espen Nakstad, says that everyone who travels on holiday in Europe should be prepared for the fact that they may end up in quarantine

– Obviously if you travel now, especially to Europe and the Mediterranean, especially Western Europe, you will probably be prepared for quarantine when you return home.

Entry restrictions

green countries: There are no requirements to test before you enter Norway or undergo quarantine. You must fill out the login form and test yourself at the border upon arrival. Those who live in green countries are exempt from the entry ban into Norway.

orange country: Travelers from orange countries have the same rules as travelers from red countries. However, it may be appropriate to provide separate requirements for orange countries at a later date.

red states: The right to enter Norway is limited. Those who have the right to enter Norway must have a negative test certificate prior to entry, fill out an entry form, test themselves at the border upon arrival, and must be quarantined to enter.

Dark red countries: The same entry rules as the red countries, but in addition, parts of the quarantine must be implemented to enter the quarantine hotels.

Land at night: The NIPH is studying countries and regions included in the EU’s third-state list with a case of infection that provides a basis for somewhat milder entry rules when traveling to Norway, such as launching quarantine hotels.

Other countries in the world: Same entry rules (quarantine hotel, testing, etc.) as in dark red countries.

Those who have been fully vaccinated or have contracted COVID-19 in the past six months are exempted from entry quarantine regardless of which country they are from.

Everyone should follow the infection control tips

Every fifth person admitted with the Delta variant in England is fully vaccinated. Could it be appropriate to tighten entry rules also for those who have been fully vaccinated and can present an approved corona certificate?

– No, so far there is no talk of it. This is because you are much less contagious when you are fully vaccinated. But there is also an increase in acceptance among fully vaccinated people in England. We’re not entirely sure how severe they are or how often they are infected, but it appears that young adults, teens, and young adults are the most infected. Then there are some fully vaccinated and registered as infected in England.

Terror rates: – The highest since the epidemic began

Should fully vaccinated people be careful, too?

There is probably a reason why many countries have the same infection control advice for everyone, regardless of whether or not you’ve been vaccinated. And since you appear to be able to infect others in certain contexts – at least when you receive one dose of the vaccine, but also when you receive two doses – it’s a good routine to use the same infection control rules.

The situation in Europe right now is that you see an increase in infections in many places. Large European countries such as France, Spain, Great Britain and also partly Italy have an increasing trend of infection.

The quarantine hotel must be observed

What is your advice to those who are now planning a trip to some dark red countries such as Spain and Crete?

Researchers sounded the alarm: – Britain’s reopening poses a threat to the world

– It is now wise to find out what rules apply in the country you are going to travel to, and whether there is a requirement that you be tested, for example, before you travel there. And what infection control rules apply, and then you have to take into account that you have time to quarantine when you get home.

– And if you are in a red country you may run the risk of turning dark red, you should take into account that it can actually be three days in a quarantine hotel. But it is true that this applies only to those who have received a single dose or not a dose of the vaccine.

When asked if it was naive to think that the danger in Norway is over when we now see outbreaks in several places in this country, Nakstad was clear.

– The danger is by no means over, fortunately we have had a steady infection trend in Norway for several weeks now. This is due to the fact that we have an effective municipal system that tests and detects germs and that many of them have been vaccinated. But the vast majority of countries have now recorded an increase in infections, and that trend appears to be flattening and possibly increasing slightly in Norway as well. So if we want to start the fall without a big wave of infection and without it becoming a problem everywhere, we will obviously be able to survive at the level we have now.
