Motorcycle gunshot: A 9-year-old boy was seriously injured

A 9-year-old girl was among the victims after someone began shooting from a motorcycle in Hackney, east London, on Wednesday evening, Greater London Police said. Her condition is life threatening.

In addition, three men were shot, and their condition is stable.

– I know this will cause great concern among the locals. James Conway, Hackney and Tower Hamlets borough commander, said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter): “We share the concern and an urgent investigation has been launched to identify and hold those behind this to account.”

It was a gunman on a motorbike who shot the three men sitting outside a restaurant in Hackney. The girl was sitting inside the restaurant with her family.

Reuters reported that the three men are 26, 37 and 42 years old, respectively. There should not be a relationship between them and the infected girl.

A stolen motorcycle was found nearby.

Conway warns of a large police presence in the area, including armed service members, to provide security and support.

-We will also continue our relentless focus on combating violence, gun crime and criminals who put our communities at risk.

Correction: A previous version of this story stated that a girl and three men were killed in the shooting incident. It is true that the girl suffers from life-threatening injuries, and the three others are in stable condition. This was corrected at 17.25 on Thursday 30 May.
