(Reuters) – Microsoft said it will not participate in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 in Las Vegas, joining a list of companies that chose not to physically attend next month’s event, concerned about the rapid spread of Micron. variant of the coronavirus.
The US software giant added that it will continue to attend CES remotely, according to an emailed statement.
Several other companies, including automaker General Motors, Google and its autonomous car technology company Waymo, Meta, Twitter, Lenovo, AT&T and Amazon, canceled their in-person sharing plans earlier this week.
CES officials said Thursday that the event will still take place face-to-face from January 5-8 with “strong security measures in place,” which include requirements for vaccination, concealment and availability of Covid-19 tests.
