Microsoft forces you to switch from Chrome to Edge again with an update

Microsoft is trying by all means to get users to change Chrome or another browser for Edge. This is an increasingly capable browser, but even so the reference has fallen on other proposals. Now, as a result of a minor update, try Windows 10 and 11 again to make the switch.

Switch from Chrome to Edge

There are already many recognized situations which show that Microsoft wants users to change Chrome for Edge. In addition to changing authorization to use any browser, it has sought to advertise its proposal, often in the least expected places and trying to get users' attention.

The latest attempt came with the latest cumulative update, which has just been released. From what is described, something in this new version seems to want to block Chrome, and take users directly to Settings, to the area of apps that will be used by default. Google already investigate the case.

Since today, we have noticed in many users of Windows 10 (Version 22H2 with the latest Microsoft updates, released in patch on Tuesday, April 11, 2023) that when the Google Chrome browser is running, the pre-set application settings are open at all times.

We have already set Google Chrome as our default browser many times. But this is meaningless. Restoring all default Google Chrome settings has no effect either.

Even uninstalling and reinstalling Google Chrome does not provide a solution.

The reason for this change is unknown, but it seems logical to Microsoft, given what the company has done in the past. By taking users to the browser switch page over and over again, the user will switch from Chrome to Edge so they can continue surfing the Internet.

The simplest solution is to remove this update, which is not recommended for users. There is also the possibility to change the Windows policy or change the registry key for that system, after it has been made available by the community.

Just update Windows

Microsoft has not yet commented on this issue, but users' complaints It seems to accumulate, especially in the software giant's forums. It is possible that there will be a new Windows update that will change this behaviour.

This is one of many attempts by Microsoft to bring about this change, which is not something everyone wants to do. The difference between this browser and the competition is really big, but it still has to be based on the users to choose which browser they want to use.
