DrAfter the approval of the Council of Ministers, this Wednesday, Marcelo Rebelo de Souza issued a decree-law establishing an exceptional system for the re-verification of driver’s licenses.
In this way, anyone with a driver’s license issued before January 1, 2008 no longer needs to take a special test to renew their license.
“The decree-law establishing an exceptional system for re-validation of driving licenses has been approved. In this way, holders of an expired driving license through legal means can proceed with its re-certification without undergoing a special examination,” the statement from the Cabinet read.
The memo added: “The envisaged system applies to driving licenses issued before January 1, 2008, whose validity periods stated in the relevant physical documents do not correspond to the legally foreseen period in force, which allows driving vehicles of categories AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B, BE and agricultural vehicles.”
