Lisbon closes higher with Mota-Engil at its highest in more than four years – Stock Exchange

The Portuguese stock market closed positively, following its European peers, on a day when investors were watching Sintra as the heads of major central banks took part in a panel at the European Central Bank’s annual forum.

On a day when Sintra was in the center of market attention – due to the annual forum of the European Central Bank (ECB) – the Portuguese stock exchange followed the rest of Western Europe and closed higher.

The PSI index advanced 0.36% to 5931.64 points, with nine listed gains, six declining and the Navigator index unchanged.

The star of the day was Mota-Engil, which rose 4.65% to €2.25, the maximum close since May 2019. On the other hand, energy prices increased by 1.03% to 18.645 euros, correcting the losses incurred recently.

Among the companies with the largest weight in the national index, Galp’s share advanced by 0.62% to 10.625 euros, affected by the rise in oil prices, while the price of EDP rose 0.04% to 4.518 euros.

Curbing gains in the Portuguese stock exchange was mainly Jeronimo Martins. And the owner of Pingo Doce waived 0.94% to 25.34 euros, after it was known yesterday that it had invested 32.8 million euros to strengthen its stake in a Norwegian salmon production company.

However, the biggest drop of the day belonged to Greenvolt, which fell 0.96% to €6.19.
