In her posthumous memoir, Lisa Marie Presley revealed that she kept her son's body at home for two months, before the funeral.

In From Here to the Great Unknown – A Memoir, the singer also revealed that she had to “fight” to stay alive for her daughters, Riley Keough and twins Harper and Finlay Lockwood.

“My house has a separate little house and I left Ben there for two months,” Lisa wrote about her son, Benjamin Keough, who committed suicide in 2020 at the age of 27. “There is no law in the state of California that requires immediate burial.” .

He added in the book, which was reported by Page Six: “The room temperature was 12 degrees to preserve the body.”

His mother and older sister also decided to get matching tattoos with Benjamin. To do this, a tattoo artist went to the family home and stood next to the body to see the tattoos he had — Riley's name on his collarbone and Lisa's name on his hand.

“Lisa Marie Presley asked this poor man to look at her dead son's body, which was there in the little house next door,” her daughter wrote. “I've lived a very ridiculous life, but this moment is in the top five.” Riley Keough, who helped finish the book after his mother died in January 2023.

Benjamin was later buried at Graceland next to his grandfather Elvis Presley, a location also chosen for Lisa Marie's funeral.
