Colconeros are not in the best shape of their lives, at least. This Thursday evening Diego Simeone’s men were caught by Levante (2-2) after a double from Enis Barty through a penalty spot. Antoine Griezmann’s opening score, his first goal in La Liga shortly before his return to the Spanish capital, just before the quarter – hour mark, was not enough. After 10 competing La Liga games, the Madrilinians finished 6th in the Spanish Championship.
Finally released to Griezmann
With only one win in their last 4 games in all competitions, the current Spanish champions were expected in a turnaround by Levante Udi in Valencia. Minutes after the kick-off was over, Jono Felix, best served by Hector Herrera, hired Eater Fernandez, but the goalkeeper, who had trained at Athletic Bilbao, grabbed the skin well (5th). Shortly before the quarter-final game, Atletico saw the start: in a corner badly rejected by Antoine Griezmann, the French international with 100 picks hit a header from the surface using a long mess (0-1, 12).
After returning to the capital of Madrid, McCann shared his legal joy with the Aboriginal team, scoring his first goal in La Liga. Although Javier Pereira’s men were not very dangerous, Luis Suarez’s awkward intervention on Ruben Weso in the 16 – meter Rojiblancos awarded the home side a penalty. The first goal of La Liga (1-1, 37th) this season was scored by Macedonian playing master Enis Barty with a penalty.
Matthias Cunha’s awakening was not enough
While the Granotes de Levante were still technically borrowed, the men of the “solo” Simeone continued to push. So, after the disastrous progress of the Argentine international (1-2, 76th), they got the benefit they deserved through Matthias Cunha, against the goal by Rodrigo de Paul. The Brazilian striker’s first goal in the Atletico jersey may have been a victory. Not so.
After a vague hand, in the box, Bertie, who was allowed by the referee after Renan Lodi’s long seconds of sighting, equalized from the penalty spot and doubled the lead in the final seconds of regulation time (2-2, 90th). The 8-minute extra time allowed did not change anything: the team of Thomas Lemer and Antoine Griezmann continued to doubt. However, they will have to shake themselves up quickly: on Sunday, they host Nabil Fekirin Real Betis, who have won 5 of the last 6 La Liga games.
