Launched ballistic missiles: – a dangerous provocation

North Korea’s military said North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles early Saturday morning.

This is the fourth launch this week. He spoke at the same time that South Korea, Japan and the United States intensified their joint military exercises to confront North Korea.

– shrugged

The South Korean chiefs of staff said in a joint statement that the repeated missile launches from North Korea are a serious provocation that undermines peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in the international community.

Japan’s Deputy Defense Minister Toshiro Ino described the launches as completely reprehensible. He said the four rounds of missile tests conducted by North Korea in one week are unprecedented.

According to South Korean and Japanese estimates, the missiles flew between 350 and 400 kilometers at an altitude of 30 to 50 kilometers, before landing in the waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan.

Ino said the missiles maintain an irregular trajectory. The other five short-range missiles North Korea fired on three occasions this week also showed similar low trajectories.

Extensive exercises

The three countries conducted anti-submarine exercises on Friday, the first in five years, just days after the US and South Korean navies conducted large-scale exercises in the waters off the peninsula.

On Wednesday, North Korea tested two short-range missiles, according to the South Korean defense. US Vice President Kamala Harris visited South Korea on Thursday.

The test launch is the latest in a long series this year and comes after warnings from the South Korean and US sides that North Korea will conduct a new nuclear test.
