Kawhi Leonard forms the North American basketball team to participate in the Olympic Games – Paris 2024

Kawhi Leonard, of the Los Angeles Clippers, is the twelfth and final player selected to represent the US basketball team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, according to ESPN and The Athletic portal.

Leonard completes the team led by coach Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors, which includes only players from the North American Basketball League (NBA). Stephen Curry (Warriors) and Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns) are the main figures, supported by Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Anthony Davis (Lakers) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics).

LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Stepdevin Booker (Suns), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Jrue Holiday (Celtics), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat), and Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers) are the remaining members of the North American squad.

Durant already has three Olympic gold medals, while LeBron became an Olympic champion in 2008 and 2012, after winning bronze in 2004.

The United States has won 16 of the 20 Olympic men's basketball championships, while the Soviet Union has won two (1972 and 1988), Yugoslavia one (1980), and Argentina another (2004), the only one of the last eight. Since the 1992 Dream Team – in which the Americans failed.
