Jorge Sanchez closer to FC Porto promotion

The Mexican right-back could join Porto during this transfer window

An agreement between FC Porto, Ajax and Jorge Sanchez is close to happening, with the Mexican side heading to Dragão on loan, with a mandatory purchase option, in the coming days.

The news was presented this evening by journalist Fabrizio Romano, who also adds that the purchase option, which will be for the practice of FC Porto, will be four million euros. If the right-back has played more than 15 matches, the option becomes mandatory.

It should be remembered that FC Porto is trying to fulfill Sérgio Conceição’s desire to add another element to the team on the right side of defence.

According to information gathered by O JOGO, the right-back’s name was suggested in the early days of the transfer market, but the Blue and Whites weighed all options before concluding that it would be the best job opportunity at this point.

Trained at Santos Laguna, Jorge Sánchez became popular playing for América, where former Porto players Marchisin and Uribe were teammates. In 2022/23, he left the Mexican giants to Ajax for five million euros, and one of his traits is also his ability to line up on the left side of the defence. Moreover, his versatility led him to the tricolor selection, where he played five matches in the Gold Cup this year, in addition to 26 matches in 2022/23 for the Dutch, who even negotiated him with Chivas this summer. Sanchez has put his foot down and expressed his desire to continue in Europe, receiving polls from Rennes, Spanish and English clubs. However, FC Porto is leading the way.
