Famalicão’s coach analyzed the defeat in overtime at the Dragons’ home
Famalicao coach Joao Pedro Souza analyzed the elimination of the Portuguese Cup, in the semi-finals, which only happened in extra time, 3-2, at the stadium of FC Porto. “There were tough times [no final do jogo] Because we didn’t deserve to compromise on goals. We were much better. Our idea was to adapt FC Porto as much as possible. We entered the match with a loss, taking into account the result of the first leg. In fact, for the first 90 minutes, the only thing we allowed FC Porto was to play backwards and to the side. Even at that moment, we managed to set the conditions in a way that FC Porto could not play, with a sponsored game. We systematically won balls in our attacking midfield, in far greater numbers than FC Porto managed in our midfield. The result was back to what we intended. Overtime we were a little tired. We were so tired. In some areas of the field we are no longer able to press. We had difficulties. Then, on the sideways tee off, we were strong on the first ball but on the second ball it was impossible to win a shot like that. Football is a bit like that, but leave me a big hug for my players because today I am a proud coach,” he stressed in remarks to RTP.
