NRK’s correspondent in the north Joachim Rygstad (40) is a face many Norwegians recognize from the TV channel. Reigstad has been with the channel since 2008, and has appeared in countless reports and live broadcasts.

Observant viewers (and us Dagbladet) may have noticed that Reigstad often brightens up formal TV attire with an eye-catching necklace.

But during “Dagsrevyen” on Thursday, Reigstad was surprised when he appeared on screen without usual accessories.

When Dagbladet dons his police hat, finds the magnifying glass and confronts Reigstad about the lack of jewels, he explains:

Reigstad can also reveal the story behind the piece of jewelry that has become part of his daily uniform.
– It’s also very old. I got it for my 1997 graduation from my long deceased grandmother.

In January last year, Reigstad got the job as a Nordic correspondent for the state channel. It covers news from Sweden, Finland, the Baltic Sea region, Denmark, Iceland, Greenland and other Arctic regions.

The last time an NRK correspondent was in a Nordic country was in 2008, when the Stockholm bureau was closed. Last year, the Stockholm office reopened, where Reigstad and jewelry are based.
