An employee with the Medina County Health Department in Ohio reported Dahmer’s death, the local newspaper wrote Akron Beacon Journal.

The cause of death is not yet known, but according to… the sun The 87-year-old had been in a nursing home since October. Following the death of his wife, Shari, earlier in January, Dahmer’s health is said to have gradually deteriorated.

Lionel Dahmer was unexpectedly and forcibly thrown into the international spotlight after his son was arrested in 1991.

Dahmer vowed to “always support his son,” even after details of his son’s crimes became public knowledge.

Dahmer was convicted of killing 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991. His murders included rape, mutilation, necrophilia, and cannibalism.

Lionel Dahmer was the son of Herbert and Katherine Dahmer. He was born on July 29, 1936 in West Allis, Wisconsin.

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1959. That same year he married Joyce Flint and together they had a son, Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, on May 21, 1960.

The family bought a home and moved to Ohio in 1968. Deceased then worked as a chemist for PPG Industries.

According Beacon Magazine The marriage must be turbulent. Lionel moved into a hotel after filing for divorce, claiming gross neglect. Flint moved to Wisconsin with their youngest son, leaving Jeffrey alone in the summer of 1978. He killed his first victim, Steven M. Hicks, on June 18 of that year.

After the divorce was finalized in July 1978, Lionel married Jeffrey’s stepmother, Shari, and moved to Medina County, Ohio.

Shari died of health complications on January 13, 2023, at a nursing home near the couple’s home in Ohio.

Dahmer lived the last years of his life at home in Ohio and was cared for by a caregiver.

In September 2022, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story was released on Netflix.

The series, with its many controversies, depicts, among other things, Jeffrey’s close relationship with his father. Father and son, among other things, dissected dead animals together throughout their upbringing.

Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested four times before he was charged as a serial killer in 1991 and confessed to killing 17 young men and boys.

– How can someone be so polite and kind and perfectly normal and still do these things unless they are incredibly crazy or insane? The father told the Beacon Journal in 1991 after his son was arrested.

The murders didn’t match the boy he remembered as a child. Jeffrey was not born a monster.

Lionel visited his son in prison every month before he was beaten to death by a colleague in 1994.
