Javi Garcia has signed an agreement with Benfica and is leaving with Boavista

Espanyol will cut his boots to become an assistant to Roger Schmidt at Benfica.

The signing of Javi Garcia now depends solely on the agreement between the established player and club Boavista, with whom he is linked for another year. Besides, there is an understanding between the Eagles and the former midfielder, as JOGO has already reported, so that he can finish his career on the pitch and take up an assistant position in the coaching staff of Roger Schmidt.

The 35-year-old is on vacation and is expected to travel to Bessa soon to negotiate his departure with the chess managers, then end the negotiation process with Benfica, in what will be the return of the Eagles, who lined up from 2009 to 2012, before joining Manchester City. At the time, it made €20 million for Benfica’s coffers.

The Spanish player is seen as a qualitative addition to Roger Schmidt’s coaching staff because of his knowledge, on the pitch, of all the teams in the Bwin League, because he speaks English and will be able to help pass the message from the German coach to the players and the experience gained throughout his career. It is worth noting that Javi Garcia graduated from Real Madrid and then joined Benfica. After Luz, there were two seasons at City, three at Zenit, in Russia, and back in Spain, at Betis, before venturing into Boavista.
