Dakota Fanning received her first cell phone at the age of 11 and Tom Cruise was in charge of it.
The actress agreed to be interviewed by Harper's Bazaar with her fellow “Ripley” actor Andrew Scott, and on this occasion the curiosity was highlighted.
While they were answering questions about each other, Andrew Scott guessed the question: “Who gave Dakota her first cell phone?”
After getting it right, the actor replied: “Well, well, it's going to be a Hollywood icon… Tom Cruise?”
The actress – who was part of the cast of the 2005 film War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise – said she then got a Motorola Razr phone. The gift was given to him on the day he turned 11 years old.
“I was so happy. I had no one to call or text. I was 11 years old. But I loved it. I loved it,” he recalls, revealing that he continues to receive gifts from Tom Cruise on his birthday.
“Every year Tom sends me a birthday present, and he has done so since this Christmas,” he explained.
