The only daughter of Queen Elizabeth pays tribute to her mother, saying they share unique memories.
I was fortunate to be able to spend the last 24 hours of my dear mother’s life with her. Princess Anne said in a statement that it was an honor and a privilege to accompany her on her recent travels.
Watching the love and respect that so many have shown on this trip makes me feel good and at peace.
She continued, “We all share unique memories.”
I would like to express my thanks to everyone who shares our sense of loss. Perhaps we have been reminded of how much they exist and contribute to our national identity that we take for granted. I am also very grateful for the support and understanding given to my dear brother Charles as he accepts the new responsibilities that come with being King.
To my mother, Queen, thank you very much.

Princess Anne accompanies the Queen’s coffin on her journey from Scotland to London.
The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II landed on Tuesday evening at Northfault Air Force Base in London after being flown from Edinburgh.
British Prime Minister Liz Truss and the Queen’s Colours squadron, among others, were waiting at the base.
The Queen’s coffin will be moved to Buckingham Palace. On Monday, King Charles and Queen Camilla flew to Edinburgh and Castle Holyroodhouse, where the late Queen’s casket is located.
It is the official residence of the royal family of Scotland. From there the queen’s coffin was carried to St Giles’ Cathedral in the city in a procession through the streets.
Scots flocked to look at royals and hearts.
