Scientists believe there may be water beneath the surface of Mars.

The amount of water could be large enough to fill all of Earth's oceans, according to researchers at the University of California, San Diego and the University of California, Berkeley.

This amazing discovery is discussed in the peer-reviewed journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Researchers warn

The researchers used data from NASA. Insight Landerwhich concluded its four-year mission in 2022.

They estimate that groundwater beneath the surface could cover the entire surface of Mars to a depth of one to two kilometers.

However, researchers warn that water will not be easy to find.

They believe the water lies between the rocks that make up the planet's middle crust, which lies about 11.5 to 20 kilometers below the surface.

Researcher: – Decisive

To understand the climate, surface and interior of Mars, it’s important to understand the planet’s water cycle. A good starting point is to know where and how much water there is, says study co-author Vash Wright, a professor at the Marine Research Institute in San Diego.

Wright believes the evidence they found provides important clues to the presence of water on the “Red Planet.”
