Introducing a new WhatsApp so you don’t miss a group call

WhatsApp is the world’s most popular instant communication system. Now a captivating new addition has been introduced to its messaging app to ensure you don’t miss a conference call – it could be good, or easy to use, depending on the call itself.

Until now this shape was very similar to a train or a plane. That is, once the call started, it was impossible to join – and limit yourself to the original participants. Well, it didn’t take long for the complaints from users to accumulate.

Do you use group calling on WhatsApp?

The Facebook group finally agreed to the users’ requests. Tired of having to start a call again for all the guys to turn up, the news was recently announced by Will Cathcart, CEO of WhatsApp.

To be able to join an ongoing call, WhatsApp had to create a “waiting room”. The user enters that space until the contact person or another participant adds them to the call. It is an application similar to what we find in Zoom calls, among other examples.

In this section (forgotten) the user can see who is currently in the ongoing call. Thus, if you are not able to enter the WhatsApp call, you do not see the notification provided or you are not able to respond to it, you have an alternative here.

“We’ve also created a call details screen that lets you see who’s already in the conversation and who’s been invited but not yet invited. If you tap Ignore, you can join later from the calls tab in WhatsApp.” , refers to the company on its official blog.

More functions for this WhatsApp calling option

“Today, we are introducing the ability to join a group call even after it has started. The ability to join calls after they have started reduces the stress of answering a group call when it is started and provides spontaneous WhatsApp conference calls and the ease of face-to-face conversations.”, It can be read on the platform blog.

This feature will also allow, for example, if the Internet connection fails during a call, to return to it. The user will be able to click on the notification card for the respective call again, thus entering the ‘waiting room’.

It should be noted that WhatsApp is currently testing this functionality with some users. Although it is not a trial version – as there are new features in the stable version – its availability will not be universal.

Has the call started yet? No problem, you can enter the same

On a personal note, I was able to take advantage of this new feature with the latest version of the messaging app for Android. In fact, according to the company itself, “This feature will be available from today and we hope that people will get the most out of the new experience.”

Finally, if you are interested in enjoying this news, please keep the application updated. This is valid for both Android and iOS users.
