FC Porto confirmed the wonderful moment it is experiencing by winning the always difficult trip to Valongo, in a match within the 17th round of the tournament. The Dragons won 6-1 and now have 42 points, one point ahead of Sporting and three ahead of league leaders Oliverense.

After defeating Benfica in the tournament (7-1) and Tomar (9-0) in the Champions League, the Dragons started early to settle the match against the team led by former national coach Renato Garrido. At half time they were already leading 5-1. Rafa (2), Carlo Di Benedetto (2), Helder Nunes and Ezequiel Mina scored the goals for the Blue and White, and Joao Lima scored for Valongo.

After an erratic start to the season, somewhat similar to last season, Ricardo Ares' side have found their best form at the turn of the year. At Valongo they add another win in nine matches in 2024.

The Dragons now have a long trip to the Argentinian city of San Juan, the “Mecca” of hockey, to compete in the Intercontinental Cup. On the 17th (01:30 AM) they faced Lomas de Rivadavia. The other semi-final will be between Barcelona and UVT. The Catalan team was invited to participate due to the absence of Valongo, the European runner-up, who will not travel to Argentina for financial reasons.
