In a 3-star hotel, yes, but with Cascais ice cream! Marcelo Rebelo de Souza treats himself to the Monte Gordo Hotel… which belongs to Souza Sintra – Celebrities

What is Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa's greatest vice? You got it right: ice cream! Ice cream is the curse of the President of the Republic, especially the one belonging to a very special house: the Santini family. This delicacy, which has been “resident” for many years on Valbom Street, in the heart of Cascais, next to the equally famous Galileo Library, is part of Marcelo's daily life.

His daily trip to the ice cream shop to take home – then also in Cascais – a tub of ice cream “for the night” was famous. Already in the presidency, with the expansion of the Santini brand and the opening of stores in different parts of Greater Lisbon, including Belém, the president was photographed going to buy his “usual ice cream”, without prejudice. After all, the ice cream shop was not located directly in front of his palace.

Now, with his trips to the Algarve, currently Monte Gordo, Marcelo could not do without his favorite flavors. So, since moving to the Hotel Baia, a three-star hotel in Monte Gordo, where he has a room all year round – he does not feel like swimming in the milder waters of the eastern Algarve – the president wanted what he loves most to be on the restaurant menu. And so, without demanding, but with a lot of desire, Santini ice cream became part of the “dessert menu”.

Those who meet the most important figure in the Portuguese state say that Marcelo likes to sit at the “window” table next to the beach promenade, where the restaurant is located, and enjoy his favorite flavors there. And there are plenty, as there are five ice cream options to choose from on the menu – plus possible combinations.

It should be clarified that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa had a partner in bringing ice cream to his Monte Gordo holiday: Sousa Sintra. The businessman and former Sporting president owns the Hotel Baia in those parts and of course did everything to pamper his boss. The world is really a “pea”… or rather, a scoop of ice cream.
