Offer is still scarce, but some projects on the outskirts of Lisbon and Porto offer prices that are more suitable for the national middle class.
Building affordable housing for middle-income customers, according to market professionals, is the desire of more and more developers. Although market conditions remain a hurdle – as do construction costs, licensing processes and the cost of urban land – three of the largest operating real estate agents in the country, RE/MAX, ERA and Century 21, have identified some new housing projects that are selling, located outside major urban centers, where rates and terms are most attractive to end customers, especially young families.
ERA Portugal – which has identified the largest number of developments for sale in the country – highlights “The best examples for quality / price are Élou – in Loures, promoted by Solyd Property Developers, and Almar, in Almada, by Habitat Invest”, in the opinion of David Mourão-Ferreira, Director of New Developments.
