Sarah Mangat (34) from Canada had been single for eight years when, in the summer of 2020, she decided to have children on her own.
The plan was originally to use a sperm bank, but she experienced the process as impersonal and clinical, and thus decided to take matters into her own hands.
Mangat came across the ‘Canadian Sperm Donors’ Facebook group, and it didn’t take long for her to find the right candidate.

– Almost had a heart attack
The 34-year-old was followed by a fertility clinic in Ontario, Canada for 14 months, during which time her cycle was closely monitored by the doctors.
When the time was right, the strange Facebook guy was impregnated with sperm.
To Mangat’s great surprise, she gets pregnant on the first try.
But just then came the real shock:
– I almost had a heart attack when the doctors told me there were two, she tells news agency South West News Service (SWNS), which was previously reproduced The Independent.
The daughter exclaimed: – The skin sparkled and melted
Mangat was told that the risk of miscarriage and premature birth is high. Due to pregnancy complications, the twins were already born at 27 weeks.
Daughters Elora and Addison were born on the 30th of April 2022 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada. They weighed less than two kilograms – together.
– They were so young. They looked like aliens, Mangat recalled.
– the best decision
The twins had a difficult start to life, and had to be treated for heart defects, brain hemorrhage, jaundice, and a number of infections, among other things. They also needed blood transfusions and help with breathing.
After 79 days in the hospital, Mangat finally brings his two daughters home.
– I can’t imagine life without my daughters. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made, says the SWNS mom-of-two.
He was afraid of his wife’s reaction
She now encourages everyone who is single and dreams of children to do the same.
– I’ve tried all the dating apps in the world, but I haven’t met anyone. You can’t wait forever for the right person to show up, says the 34-year-old.
died suddenly
Mangat also wanted to know the donor beforehand and thus it was better not to find a donor through a sperm bank.
In Canada, regulations state that you can only meet the donor when the child turns 18.
