A new book by James Andrew Miller, “Tinderbox: HBO’s Ruthless Pursuit of New Frontiers,” reveals that HBO has spent more than $30 million producing a canceled Game of Thrones episode and contest.

Bob Greenblatt, the former president of WarnerMedia, was interviewed for the book and told Miller about his conversation with Jane Goldman, the producer of the canceled series, in which he had to discuss the quality of the series.

According to the account, the lead official decided that the series did not meet the required quality standards and did not meet the possibilities of the original argument.

“So, unfortunately, we have decided to cancel the series. There has been tremendous pressure to get this right and I don’t think it will work.”

The revelation released in the book and shared by Insider sheds some light on what’s been happening on HBO with the series on Game of Thrones and how the property’s massive popularity is creating significant stress.

Greenblatt also commented that things are going well with Miguel Saposhnik and Ryan Kondal’s “House of the Dragon,” especially since they didn’t start out focusing on producing a pilot and then see how it went, they focused on creating a great series.
