Frank O’Connor, creative director of the Halo series since 2003, has left Microsoft, according to his latest LinkedIn profile update, as he no longer lists Microsoft as an employer.
On his LinkedIn page, Frank O’Connor no longer lists 343 Industries as his place of work, nor even Microsoft, and has fueled speculation that he left the company after 20 years leading the Halo series.
O’Connor has worked on creating the narrative and all elements related to the Halo story, being a significant contributor to all of the games released since 2003 and shaping Microsoft’s very popular universe.
In his resume, he stated that he would quit his job at Microsoft in April, the company he decided to stay with in 2008, when he divorced Xbox owner Bungie, to help 343 Industries sponsor the Halo series.
If O’Connor’s departure is indeed official, as his LinkedIn bio indicates, it’s the second major exit this week, after Joseph Staten, one of the most important creators of the Halo series, announced he was leaving the company.
