Grimaldo was called up for the first time to the Spanish national team

Alejandro Grimaldo was called up for the first time to the Spanish AA team.

The left-back, who represented Benfica for seven and a half years, has been rewarded for his fine moment at Bayer Leverkusen, where he has already scored seven goals and five assists in 16 competitive appearances.

There are other new additions to the squad: Girona’s Alex Garcia, Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo Riquelme, and Real Sociedad’s Alex Remiro are part of the roster and could also make their debut for Roja.

Luis de la Fuente’s squad, which was previously called up, also included the name of Álvaro Gallo, the SP Braga striker, who was not in the final list. Although he was already called up, Abel Ruiz was not called up either.

Spain has already confirmed its qualification for the final stage of the 2024 European Championship, scheduled to be held in Germany, and leads Group A with 15 points, along with Scotland. These two matches will be against Cyprus on November 16, and against Georgia three days later.
